Levein names Scotland squad

Levein

Craig Levein has announced his squad for the friendly with Denmark next week.

The Scotland boss has named a 24 man squad for the friendly at Hampden next Wednesday (10th August). There are no real surprises in the squad as Levein prepares for the Euro qualifiers against the Czechs and Lithuania.

This is probably a wise move as the time for experimentation is over, Levein needs to spend the few days he has the players making sure we are ready for these two vital qualifiers.

A win would be nice as it would start to push up the rankings again but a performance that sets us up for these two major games. If we lose to the Czechs second will be way beyond us.

It would appear from the squad Levein has settled on a 4-5-1 formation with Kenny Miller spearheading the attack. We do appear to be well served in midfield but are a bit light at centre back.

There are two really untried players in this position, Wilson and Hanley, meaning we are still relying on one of the Caldwells!!

Charlie Adam (Liverpool)
Barry Bannan (Aston Villa)
