The proposed change to a 10 team SPL looks as though it will be dropped when the League has its AGM on Monday.

After all the bluster from Neil Doncaster and his supporters that this was the only way forward and there was no other option it looks as though the 10 team SPL plan is now dead.

There has been resistance from a number of quarters, a number of clubs have never been happy with the proposal and have obviously convinced the rest they won’t change their minds.

A number of surveys have also been carried out with the fans, and almost universally they support a bigger league rather than a smaller one.

This would appear to be a victory for common sense as far as I can see. The only other thing that needs to be sorted out is what shape will the League take in the future.

I also wonder where this leaves Neil Doncaster who has stated this 10 team proposal has been the only way forward. Does this mean his position is no longer tenable, and should he be forced to leave his position??

Maybe he should think before he speaks in the future, and maybe also remember the League is the clubs not the administrator…
