Rangers lose again, Celtic finally win while it was a mixed bag for the rest of the SPL yesterday.

Celtic played the second game of their trip to Australia against Perth Glory and came up against a couple of familiar faces in Liam Miller and Steven McGarry who are now plying their trade in Western Australia.

The visitors won the game thanks to a goal in each half, with Hooper sliding home after latching on to a long ball and in the second Mulgrew headed home a Ledley free kick.

There was one setback for Celtic with Kayal having his nose broken after an elbow in the face from Adam Hughes. It would appear it has already been reset but he will miss out on the game in Melbourne in midweek.

The Champions didn’t fare so well on their trip to Germany when they were soundly beaten 3-0 by VFL Bochum. The German second division side won thanks to goals from Ginczek with a double and Aydin.

Once again it wasn’t only the defeat which hurt but there was an injury picked up by Kyle Lafferty who looks as though he will miss the start of the season thanks to a groin problem.

Hearts and Aberdeen are also in Germany and both suffered the same fate as Rangers with the Dons losing 5-2 to Borussian Munchengladbach and the Jambos 3-0 to Union Berlin.

There was mixed fortunes for the other SPL sides yesterday, there were wins for Motherwell who beat Dumbarton 5-0, Hibs who saw off East Fife by 3-1 and Kilmarnock who won 2-0 over Coleraine of Northern Ireland.

On the flip side Inverness were held to a 1-1 draw at Livingston and St. Mirren lost 1-0 to Ayr United. Not too worry it is all about the work out at this stage....
