Despite only one Cup win in just over a year Celtic Manager Neil Lennon has been rewarded with an improved contract.

Lennon was originally on a six month rolling contract but has now been awarded a one year rolling contract with a report £1 million salary.

This is after just over a year in charge where Celtic have let the League slip twice against what is reputed to be the poorest Rangers side in a generation, particularly given their financial plight.

His side has also lost badly in his first attempt at the Scottish Cup, crashed out of Europe and lost the League Cup to Rangers. He appears to have won favour thanks to his sides Scottish Cup win over Motherwell last month.

It seems strange to see Lennon rewarded this way when arguably better managers, particularly Gordon Strachan, have been hounded out of Celtic Park for better performances than this.

The Celtic support seemed to become galvanised behind their manager thanks to the troubles he has had off the pitch rather any success on it. There is also a belief he has taken the team forward since taking over, although under Strachan they had won the League and made the last 16 of the Champions League.
