Hearts have started rebuilding for next season by mounting raids on four of their rivals.

They have confirmed the signings of three players today, from three of the clubs.

They have bagged Danny Grainger from St. Johnstone, Jamie Hammill from Kilmarnock and John Sutton from Motherwell. This on top of the expected signing of Zander Dinamond from Aberdeen.

This is a bit of a statement from Hearts manager Jim Jeffries as he appears to be desperate to put a Scottish feel to his side, rather than the Lithuanian/Eastern European one we have seen in recent years.

Sutton’s signing is an interesting one, given Kevin Kyle is already at Tynecastle. Does this give a signal Kyle may be injured much worse that we have been told and could play few games next season, or be out of the game altogether.

Also with Grainger signing at left back what does this mean for Craig Thomson, or is Grainger another who is likely to settle for a role as a squad player.

Hearts have constantly been touted as the team to challenge the Old Firm in the future, but I would don’t think these signings will propel them into the top two. They may have confirmed their place in third but that will be all!
