Hearts are in talks with Edinburgh City Council on a possible move from Tynecastle.

This has come about once again as the club realise the cost to develop the old Main Stand at Tynecastle, and moving to a new site may be more financially viable.

Supporters have been asked to express their views via a questionnaire on the club's website.

Consultants have been commissioned to investigate all options open to Hearts and the club say findings from their report will be submitted to the council's economic development committee.

Hearts estimate that the cost of redeveloping the main stand to increase the capacity by 1700 to around 19,000 would cost around £20m.

And it is thought that a new 30,000-seater stadium on the west side of the city could be constructed for around £30m.

Hearts did have plans previously for moving to a multi purpose site but plans have been repeatedly scaled down due to planning difficulties and cost issues.

Last year, Hearts said they were "open-minded" about the possibility of a groundshare deal with Edinburgh Rugby at a new stadium.

While I think it would be a shame if Hearts were to leave Tynecastle which is one of the most atmospheric grounds in the Country it would be great if they moved somewhere that was more accessible and had better parking facilities.

Hopefully we won’t get another soulless stadium like St. Mirren or St. Johnstone, and who knows in the not too distant future we could have two of our biggest clubs in new grounds with Aberdeen also planning to move from Pittodrie.
