Celtic’s win at Kilmarnock keeps the title going into the midweek fixtures at least.

A goal in either half was enough to secure a win for Celtic at Rugby Park and move them back to within a point of Rangers with both having two games to play.

Neither side got any fluency in the first half with Kilmarnock struggling to find any sign of their much vaunted passing play. Celtic had two goals, rightly, ruled off for offside and it looked as though the score would be level at the break.

That was before Scott Brown popped up to send a close range header past Cammy Bell to relieve the pressure on the Glasgow side at the break.

Another goal from Kris Commons in the second half sealed all three points with Celtic in control as Killie struggled throughout.

It was interesting to hear post match that Neil Lennon thought his side was excellent once again. Not a view shared by many other pundits, but at the end of the day it’s not about performances at the moment it is about the three points.

Now it’s the next episode of the soap opera in midweek as Rangers are up first to take on Dundee United at home on Tuesday before Celtic travel to Tynecastle to take on Hearts who are in free fall at the moment.
