A four nil win for Rangers last night was cancelled out by a four nil win for Celtic tonight, and sets up quite a game on Sunday.

Rangers were first in action this week, with a re-arranged game with Dundee Utd at Tannadice which many felt would be a tricky tie for the current Champions. In the end they saw it through comfortably enough thanks to three penalties in the game.

The first was awarded in 22 minutes was converted by Whittaker, but saw United reduced to ten men with Kovacevic being sent off.

Rangers made it two early in the second half through a second penalty from Whittaker, this time Sean Dillon seeing red as United were reduced to nine. Rangers capitalised on the extra men and further goals from Lafferty and Jelavic sealed the win.

There was a third penalty when Margaro Gomis was sent off, but Whittaker missed the chance of his hat trick when he blasted wide.

The discussion after the game has been about whether the red card following all three penalties was a harsh punishment. Having seen them all I feel sorry for Dillon and Gomis who didn’t appear to halt clear goal scoring opportunities.

This is definitely an area for the rule makers to have a look at.

Celtic replied in fine style tonight by blowing away Kilmarnock by four goals to nil. They settled their nerves with a Kris Commons goal after only four minutes. The Scotland International scored again half an hour later to effectively end the game as a contest.

Hooper made it three before the break and Stokes added a fourth after the break to keep Celtic a point behind with a game in hand against Inverness next week. You get the feeling if Celtic win on Sunday in the Old Firm game then win in Inverness to make the gap five points with four games to go it will be all over.
