Much has been said over the last couple of days on the Scottish sectarian issue especially since UEFA have acted upon Rangers.

UEFA have already barred Rangers fans from travelling to the next two games in Europe after being found guilty of their fans singing sectarian songs in Eindhoven.

It also looks as though they could also act on reports about similar singing in the home leg at Ibrox against the same opposition.

Rangers Chief Executive said last night, "We are absolutely astounded by this latest development and will defend our club's position very, very vigorously.”

The thing I don’t understand in this statement his how he is astounded at his club being found out, I am more astounded it has taken so long for any of the game’s authorities to act on the problem.

They can bang on all they like about the work they have done to help eradicate sectarianism BUT sadly it has all failed. Maybe they need to look deeper and take different actions as what they are doing now is not working!

Neil Lennon believes it is a social problem deeply ingrained in our society and it may take drastic action to fix it, "But unless people really take a heavy-handed approach to it, it's going to continue."

For once I am in the Lennon camp and it is time to throw the book at the numskulls who continue to embarrass not only their club but now the rest of Scotland.
