Celtic went back to the top of the table with a comfortable three one win over Hibs at Celtic Park, while Motherwell edged closer to a top six place with a win over Dundee Utd.

After an explosive start when Hooper could’ve scored in the opening minutes, Anthony Stokes fired the hosts into a fourth minute lead.

Gary Hooper converted from a penalty after Scott Brown was fouled by Hibs' Martin Scott before he added his second of the night before the break.

In the second half Hibs were thrown a lifeline when a Liam Miller penalty vut the lead to two.

Then six minutes from time, Hooper sent a penalty wide after Freddie Ljungberg was brought down by Paul Hanlon.

The victory puts Celtic two points ahead of Rangers at the top of the table, with both clubs having played the same number of matches.

It looks as though the next Old Firm game of the season to be played on Easter Sunday will be the big one as far as the title is concerned.

Motherwell edged closer to a top six place with their fourth home win over Dundee United at Fir Park tonight.

First half goals from Murphy and Humphrey looked to have sealed the game, but a late Russell header ensure a nervy finish. It took a great save from Randolph one on one with Goodwillie in stoppage time to seal all three points for the home side.

In Paisley Aberdeen and St. Mirren were involved in a five goal thriller that was finally won 3-2 by the Buddies moving them 12 points clear of Hamilton and probably putting an end to their relegation worries.
