Clyde remain at the foot of the SFL this evening after losing at home to second bottom East Stirlingshire.

East Stirling hadn’t scored in their last eight league games and this run had seen them slip to second bottom.

That run ended after only nine minutes of this match, a corner from the right wasn’t cleared properly and the ball fell kindly for David Dunn to fire high into the roof of the net from close range.

Clyde could’ve equalised on 20 minutes when John Neill almost headed into his own goal but he was bailed out by sub Craig Tully who cleared off the Shire goal line.

The equaliser came along a minute later when Stuart Mills ran on to a through ball to coolly slide the ball under the advancing keeper.

Shire were back in the lead with ten minutes to the break, Kevin Cawley tapped in from only a couple of yards out after he had been picked out by a cross from Scott Johnson.

The second half was a much poorer affair with neither creating very much, until the closing stages but even when Clyde did they found Michael Andrews in good form in the Shire goal.

The keeper saved well from Sweeney and Mills as Clyde pushed for an equaliser. There case wasn’t helped in stoppage time when John Stewart was shown a straight red card for an apparent elbow on Paul Hay.

This was a game that had much endeavour which made up for the lack of genuine skill on show and made it a very enjoyable game to watch.
