Bottom of the league and relegated Rotherham give Preston an early scare.....

The pressure may have been off Rotherham as their fate for the season was confirmed before todays game but it was very much the opposite for Preston as an important away victory keeps the playoff march on.

A first half blunder from keeper Carlo Nash saw Rotherhams Will Hoskins cross come shot from 25 yards out wide left find the back of the net on 23 minutes.

Preston though showed their dominance and got their just rewards on 51 minutes when a shot was closed down leaving ex Millmoor star Chris Sedgwick to fire in Northends equaliser from just outside the box.

From the equaliser Preston always had control of the game and just four minutes later took the lead from an unlikely hero Youl Mawene who sneaked in unmarked at the back post to fire home Nugents flick on, and grab his second goal in Northend colours.

Nugent himself could have been on the score sheet but a rasping drive late on cannoned off post.
