Terry Venables has turned down the opportunity to take over as manager of Middlesbrough. Early indications are that the former England boss was reluctant to commit to such an important job because of other commitments.


So the search continues and Boro fans should remain patient as Steve Gibson will surely make the right decision. We should have complete faith in our illustrious chairman and remember that we have only been managerless for less than two weeks.

Betting has been suspended on Martin O'Neill at this time after the former Celtic man was heavily tipped to take over after Venables refusal.

It has been reported by other news sources that Iain Dowie is 'expected' to be named as Charlton manager very soon which would appear to rule the ex-Crystal Palace boss out altogether.

Ertugrul Saglam is still a hot tip for the job but as previously mentioned, the smart money is now on Martin O'Neill.
