Motherwell travelled to Easter Road on Wednesday night for there first match in over a week after Saturday’s postponement at home to Hearts. The ‘Well team should have been high on confidence after last Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to Celtic.

The game started with both teams creating a few chances only ‘Well’s weren’t really causing the Hibs keeper any bother. Hibs scored the first goal of six tonight with a cross from Tom McManus being headed across goal to find Kevin Nicol who headed home from just yards out.


Hibs had all the possession and doubled their lead on the 36th minute when Derek Riordan’s miss-hit shot came across the box and found Reid who made it 2-0 with another close range header. Motherwell took until the 41st minute to get a shot at goal with a Scott MacDonald effort going over the bar.


Butcher must have had some harsh words at half-time. Most ‘Well fans were just on there way back to the seats as Keith Lasley’s run and shot took a wicked deflection and ended up in the net, 2-1 Hibs but the ‘Well were on the way back. On the hour mark ‘Well were awarded a penalty when MacDonald was brought down in the box, Adams whose father was in the crowd with Coventry manager Eric Black stepped up to level at two all.




Where are the Hibs fans ?


60 seconds later Hibs had a penalty of there own which Riordan scored from 3-2. The Motherwell team hadn’t given up and with ten minutes left a Scott MacDonald effort took a deflection of a Hibs player and spun up into the air going over the Hibs goalie and landing in the back of the net. 3-3 and the ‘Well were back. Colin Murdoch had a chance for Hibs near the end and MacDonald missed a chance for ‘Well. Overall a poor first half but a much better second half. Well Done lads. Stevie Hammell also limped off injured during the first half but not known what’s wrong.
