Motherwell won their fourth match in a row at Fir Park thanks to a goal from youngster Paul Quinn. It was the 18 year old's first ever goal for the club.




There was two changes from last week's defeat at Livingston, Stevie Hammell replaced injured defender Gary Bollan in the Motherwell starting line-up, with Scott McDonald taking Phil O'Donnell's place in the starting eleven.


Kris Boyd started up front for Kilmarnock at the expense of Rhian Dodds.




Kilmarnock started the better of the two sides but it was Motherwell who took the lead. Derek Adams crossed for Paul Quinn at the back post and 'the coach ' headered past former ' Well ' keeper Dubourdeau to put the home side in front.


Although Killie had most of the second half possession they failed to trouble Gordon Marshall.


Kilmarnock played like a typical Jim Jefferies side, kicking, pulling jerseys and even some dramatic diving into the bargain and deserved what they got in the end....nothing.




After the match Terry Butcher said " It was an awful game but I’d take awful games like that if we 1-0. You look at the way we have scored goals in 5-3 and 3-2 games, its nice to keep it right at one end but not quite get it right at the other. But we got the goal and held on to it and in the second half, we had to withstand a lot of pressure but we defended very well, and I don’t think that neither keepers has had a shot to save. " " The game was of poor quality the pitch didn’t help, but a lot more strength from the team compared to last week. I said to them that I could accept last week if we got a reaction this week and I thought we certainly did that in terms of pride passing and commitment. "


The win leaves Motherwell with a great chance of finishing in the top 6 for the first time.
