Motherwell v Queen of the South - Preview

By Paul Marshall
February 6 2004

Motherwell Boss Terry Butcher has warned his players he doesen't want to be on the end of another cup shock like happened earlier in the season at Forfar. Butcher told icLanarkshire " We'll treat them like an SPL team. I said that before we played St Johnstone and that's the way we should treat Queen of the South. "

" We won't underestimate them, that's for sure. I think we did against Forfar and took the result on the chin. "

It's the first Scottish Cup tie to be played at Fir Park for 3 years so Butcher has asked the fans to turn out in big numbers, he added " It's nice to be at home, but we must make that count. Queens will bring quite a big crowd so I'd love it if our fans were out in numbers. "

Queens manager John Connelly beleives his side haven't got much chance of a upset after Forfar shocked Motherwell in the CIS Cup, he told Teletext " Terry has been through plenty of battles as a player and manager and he will be taking nothing for granted. If Motherwell had beat them ( Forfar ) convincingly then there would have been a little chance of them leaving themselves open to a defeat against us. "

" But I think they will be wary now and that makes it more difficult for us. "
