Motherwell are set to sign Dundee United defender Gary Bollan today but will not face St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup as he isn't match fit. Motherwell have beaten Inverness, Partick Thistle and Queen of the South in the race to sign the experienced defender who has only featured twice for Dundee United this season after joining up for his second spell at Tannadice.


The 30 year old can play on the left side which will fuel speculation that left-back Steven Hammell is to leave Fir Park for Wigan this month.
