Goals from Peter Canero and Kris Boyd ended Motherwell's seven-game unbeaten run at a rain soaked Rugby Park.





It was Motherwell's first defeat in the league since September 20th when they went down 3 - 0 at Celtic Park.



Scott Leitch made the starting line up which allowed Terry Butcher to field the same starting eleven for the 10th consecutive game.



Jim Jefferies only made one change from the side that won 4 - 2 at Partick Thistle, Kris Boyd came in for Gary McSwegan.







Killie took the lead through Peter Canero, the Scotland under - 21 winger beat Stevie Hammell on the goal line then fired past Gordon Marshall from a tight angle.



Goal hero Canero was then lucky to stay on the park after he brought down David Clarkson at the edge of the box. Canero was the last man but referee Mike McCurry never booked the player despite awarding the free kick. Ex Motherwell goalie Dubourdeau then pulled off a superb save from the free kick.



Kilmarnock then killed the match on the hour mark with a second goal. Stevie Hammell failed to clear a Nish cross and Kris Boyd nipped in and scored from 6 yards.



Motherwell now face a tricky away match at Firhill next Sunday. Partick Thistle are still looking for their first win of the season and you just feel we will be the team they finally get it against.
