Motherwell v Partick Thistle - Preview

By Paul Marshall
August 29 2003

Motherwell entertain Partick Thistle at Fir Park this Saturday fresh from their excellent 2 - 1 win over Kilmarnock. After last week's excellent performance Terry Butcher will be hoping for more of the same against the Harry Wraggs who have yet to win a game. ( and we know what that means ! )

Good news for Motherwell fans is that Martyn Corrigan will still be pulling on a claret and amber jersey on Saturday after the club knocked back a bid from Dundee United for the defender. Arabs manager Ian McCall is looking to shore up a leaky defence that has conceded 10 goals !! in their first three matches of the new season and see's the ' Kaiser ' as the man for the job but his paltry bid of 200,000 was easily knocked back.

Terry Butcher feels his side have an added incentive to beat Partick on Saturday after the Firhill club have complained about Motherwell signing new players whilst in administration, he told Teletext " I think people should keep their noses out of Motherwell Football Club's business and concentrate on their own clubs. "

" As far as we are concerned, these signings were done in the correct manner. "

" We have blooded a lot of young players, so more good things are happening at the club than bad. "

They'll be a harder proposition than Killie, but I reckon we'll be too strong for them this time round !
