Motherwell v Kilmarnock - Preview

By Paul Marshall
August 22 2003

Kilmarnock are the visitors to Fir Park this Saturday, the Ayrshire side are three points in front of Motherwell but a home win would see them jump Killie in the table on goal difference. Terry Butcher feels his side performed well against Livingston last Saturday but the bottom line is Motherwell still haven't got a point and are the only SPL side yet to score a goal. A win is now essensial since we have a difficult run of games next month against Hibs, Celtic and Hearts. Kenny Wright could keep his place in the squad after an excellent show against Liviingston, the 18 year old was by far Motherwell's best player on show. Derek Adams is back from suspension and is likely to take Wright's place in the first eleven. James McFadden is still struggling with his groin injury but could make the match, Terry Butcher said " He could be fit for next week but he needs to see the chiropractor to get his back manipulated. ".

Dubourdeau in Motherwell colours

Kilmarnock will have a familiar face in their squad. This week ex Motherwell goalkeeper Francios Dubourdeau put pen to paper on a contract till the end of the year with the Rugby Park club ( at least he won't come back to haunt us by scoring against us as other former players always seem to do ). Danny Invincible and Gary Locke will miss the match after suffering ankle ligament injuries against Partick Thistle last week.

Fans view Remember kidd

First three points in the bag and above thistle in the league wheres my pint and a pie and Im a happy guy.

Pride of Lanarkshire Prediction

It's a must win match but if the team come out and start launching the ball up the park to our two small front men and missing out our mifield which I can see happening then Kilmarnock will win this one.

Motherwell 1 - 2 Kilmarnock
