Motherwell manager Terry Butcher is raging after missing the chance to sign Manchester United youngster John Rankin. The Scottish born midfielder also knocked back Aberdeen to sign for Ross County to once again team up with Alex Smith who coached him with Scotland under 16, 17 and 20 levels. Terry also wanted to add Scottish goalkeeper Andy Reid to his squad but FIFA vetoed the move. It's thought Tony Vaughan alerted Terry to his availiblity at Forest. Terry is hoping to add the keeper in the summer when the transfer window opens.

Terry told teletext " The whole situation is crazy because Andy isn't getting a game. We want to sign him but can't because of this transfer window. "

" He wants to return to Scotland — he's a very highly-rated keeper and we saw that when he came and trained with us. "
