After a pulsating 90 minutes of football at Rugby Park, Motherwell are in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup. A James McFadden penalty after 33 minutes won the tie for Motherwell.

Motherwell fans turned up in massive numbers after the club laid on free buses for the Claret and Amber army. Over 2000 ' Well ' fans turned up to join the pitiful home support, weren't the Killie fans bothered today ? ? ?



Terry Butcher brought midfielder Keith lasley back into the side after his long spell on the injury table but Khaled Kemas and Dirk Lehmann were out injured. With both of these strikers out David Clarkson got his chance to shine and the 17 year old did that. The young striker who had scored in our last game against Partick Thistle before the winter break was easily our best player going forward and it was one of his many runs into the Killie box that earned Motherwell the penalty, Killie defender Greg Shields stopped Clarkson just before he was about to shoot. McFadden stepped up and easily slotted past a helpless Gordon Marshall to put Motherwell in front.



Our only other chance in the first half came on the 45 minute mark, McFadden was unlucky not to get his second of the day when Marshall saved well from free kick.



Kilmarnock's cause was hindered even further when defender Chris Innes was sent off early in the second half for his second yellow of the day and Killie never recovered and tired as the game went on although they had a few shots Dubourdue was always there to save.
