Apologies to all for no recent updates but I've been away for a week. The following is a summary of the week gone by at Maine Road. Stories looked at include the new away strip, fixture changes and thoughts on a future captain.

I’m Back

Apologies to all that have logged in during the last ten days or so and have found the site not updated. Due to family demands I had to neglect the site and go on holiday. I’m back now totally relaxed and focused on the new season ahead. New away strip announced

Earlier in the week the club finally announced details of the new away strip. The strip is a copy of the old 1970’s “continental” away strip. The shirt is white with a black and red diagonal stripe across the chest. In these retro days it is sure to be a best seller. The shirt officially goes on sale on August 22nd and the official site is promising delivery for that date if you order online before the 15th August. Fixture Change

City have had to move another fixture for the TV cameras, this time for the Pay PerView audience. The Blackburn home game, originally scheduled for Saturday the 14th September, has been moved back a day to Sunday 15th with a 2pm kick off.

Skipper needed

Kevin Keegan needs to find himself a new captain with the new season fast approaching. Favourite at the moment would seem to be Peter Schmeichel, although Kevin Keegan is telling the official site that he has 6 or 7 captains to choose from. Both Stevie Howey and Shaun Goater have performed the duties in the past for Keegan but with The Goat unlikely to figure and Howey being a reluctant skipper it would seem that one of the new players will take the honour.

Defender follows Etuhu

Young defender, Tyrone Mears, has this week left City for the bright lights of Preston North End. The right back who made only one first team appearance rejected a new contract offer from the Blues to join ex team mate Dixon Etuhu at Deepdale.

Mettomo linked to Marseille

Lucien Mettomo continues to attract interest from across the English Channel with Marseilles this time around expressing an interest. Mettomo was strongly rumoured to be on his way to PSG as part of the Nicolas Anelka transfer deal which eventually saw Alain Toure leave. City are keen to offload players who are unlikely to play a major part in the Premiership but may feel that Mettomo is worth keeping.
