Wright-Phillips to be rewarded with new contract

Shaun Wright-Phillips is to be rewarded for his fine season, with a new contract. The club will sit down with the player in the close season with a view to improving his current contract.

Wright-Phillips, who made his U21 International debut on Tuesday, still has 2 years to run on his current deal. His form this season has convinced Kevin Keegan that he has a future at Maine Road. KK told the official site

"He knows his future is with us. This is the club he chose to join and he knows we have put a lot of time into him. This is where he wants to play his football. We will sit down in the summer with him and he will get what he deserves. He knows that as we have told him."

Wright-Phillips will have a chance to show past doubters what they missed when he takes to the field for Saturdays game. It was Nottingham Forest who rejected him as a youngster.

Their loss is City's gain.
