Wednesday V Coventry City

Date: Saturday 31st September

Venue: Hillsborough, Sheffield

Wednesday go in to this crunch match on the back of a dissapointing 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night. Coventry on the other hand, will be looking to carry on with their winning ways after earning an impressive 3-1 victory over high-flying Watford in midweek.

The Owls will be looking to for a repeat of the 5-1 thrashing given out the last time the two teams met in the league back in the 2002/03 season. The two teams did of course meet last season as Paul Sturrock watched his new team from the stands. City ran out 1-0 winners that night, despite a spirited Owls performance.

Coventry currently lie 16th in the league, and have had a very mixed start to the new campaign. Their up and down season was highlighted back in August when they lost 4-0 at Burnley, only to go and beat QPR 3-0 the following match.

The sky blues have only recorded two victories so far this season - both at their new Ricoh Arena. On their travels thay have suffered three defeats and had four draws. Hopefully they won't get their first away victory of the season here in S6 on Saturday! Good news for Wednesday though, Coventry have the second worst defensive record in the league behind Millwall, which should be food for thought for David Graham and Lee Peacock.

Our interview with Coventry fan Sid in the Q and A section of WW points to goalkeeper Stephen Bywater as their best current player, which doesn't really say much for the rest of the team and their performances to date. Willo Flood has been another impressive signing by Micky Adams, and will look to get one over against best mate Glenn Whelen on Saturday. Wednesday will also have to look out for Dele Adebola who has hit five goals in the Championship this season.

Following the defeat at Palace midweek, Paul Sturrock may make changes to the starting eleven. Graham Coughlan is likely to return to the squad which will see either Richard Wood or Graeme Lee dropped to the bench. JP McGovern was also rested during the week in his bid to recover from injury, and may feature on Saturday. Lee Bullen, Mo Ross, and Paul Heckingbottom all featured for the reserves in midweek and may feature.

City defenders Andrew Whing and Marcus Hall returned to strengthen the Coventry defence in midweek and came through unscathed, so should continue on Saturday. City have no other major injury doubt coming in to the game, and are likely to stay unchanged.

Previous Line-Up's:
