WYCOMBE Wanderers were last night considering a £500,000 bid from Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday for Nathan Tyson.
The Owls had two bids rejected on Wednesday but trumped that with their half a million pound offer yesterday.
That bid which would shatter Wycombe's transfer record of £295,000 received from Swindon for striker Keith Scott 12 years ago was being considered by the Blues board yesterday.
They don't want to lose their 11-goal hitman, but know that if they don't sell him in January's transfer window, he can leave for nothing in the summer.
Sheffield Wednesday - Fresh striker bid on cards

Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock has admitted he is considering making a fresh bid for Wycombe striker Nathan Tyson after seeing two previous offers rejected by the League Two club.
The Owls manager is desperate to bolster his attack after seeing his side slump to the bottom of the Championship and was keen to bring Tyson to Hillsborough in the January transfer window.
However, despite being knocked back twice by the Chairboys, Sturrock says he may return with a new bid for the 23-year-old hitman.
Sturrock said: "I've watched Nathan from afrar over the last three seasons. He lost his way at Reading and took a wee while to settle in at Wycombe but he is very quick.
"We've got to decide if we're going to go back again."
Tyson has hit 40 goals in just 72 outings for Wycombe since signing in March 2004.
Sturrock hopes for anniversary treat
Sheffield Wednesday manager Paul Sturrock is hoping his side can come away from fourth placed Luton with maximum points this evening.
Frankie Simek and John Hills are set to return to the squad after being rested in midweek, and Ritchie Partridge has recovered from injury.
"It's not a place that should scare us," said Sturrock.
"Our last away game was disappointing, we lost two early goals so we must make sure we're more solid there."
