Burnley Football Club and Accrington Stanley are preparing for good news concerning the possible fixture clashes that were to occur next season.

Burnley Football Club and Accrington Stanley are preparing for good news concerning the possible fixture clashes that were to occur next season. Both Burnley and Stanley had expressed concerns to the FA stating that both clubs would lose out financially should their home fixtures be played on the same day.

 

However, following talks with the police and the football league it is believed that the clubs have received a positive response from the FA. Only last week Burnley chairman Barry Kilby was on record expressing his disappointment that Stanley’s games would not be paired with Blackburn Rovers whose fixtures would rarely clash with Stanley’s due to Blackburn's European commitments.

 

Last week Kilby said:

"Both myself and Eric Whalley are really annoyed about the decision, particularly Eric as he has been the one making representations to the police,"

"It's going to cost them up to £100,000, and it will hit us to some extent because there are people that would want to go to the home games of both Burnley and Accrington and obviously won't be able to now.

 

"The supporters would like to see both games and I think more people are likely to watch Burnley and Accrington than they are Blackburn and Accrington."

 

Burnley FC have now though welcomed reports that their home fixtures will not clash with Stanley’s. The fixtures are to be announced this Thursday at 10am on the official site.
