The fee accepted was a record breaking £1.75 million and most certainly more than twice as much as the £600,000 paid for him back in February 2005 from Stoke City.

The striker has bagged 18 goals from the 43 games he's played in and is expected to ensure that Sheffield United get promotion this season.

Akinbiyi is set to agree terms and pass a medical with the Bramall Lane club.
