News of last nights match against Cardiff City at Turf Moor. The match finished 1-0 to the Clarets thanks to a Richard Chaplow goal in the 85th minute. England U-21 scout Sammy Lee will have been impressed with the 19 yearold.

The team lined up roughly as follows:

Coyne

Duff McGreal Sinclair Camara

Valois Grant Chaplow Branch

Blake Moore

It was a poor game of football at Turf Moor with neither side creating much. Robbie Blake had a good chance in the 1st half whilst Cardiff should have scored when Frank Sinclair allowed a Cardiff striker a shot on goal but Danny Coyne produced a good save.

The winning goal came in the 88th minute when Robbie Blake skipped past his marker and released Chaplow on the right side of the box to drill into the far corner. Blake should have double the lead a minute later but he shot over the bar.

The victory means the Clarets have remained unbeaten in September and Steve Cotterill was delighted with the 3 points..........

It was important to get the win, but not that important," added Cotterill.

"I had a great view of the goal and I wouldn't have cared if it had bobbled in, but it was a great strike, It was great to see the players too, because they were all celebrating and they knew it was a hard game for them."

"It was important for the supporters because we were playing at home and you want to win for them and it's good for the players. It was great to score so late as well because the players kept going and it gives them less time to get back."

"We got there through sheer endeavour in the end.

"We've drawn with Leicester, Wigan and Stoke and we've wanted to win all of them, but you can't always win."
