Joey Barton has opened up on his two spells with Burnley, nearly joining West Ham over the Clarets and Sean Dyche's persistence in bringing him back from Rangers.

Barton spent 18 months at Turf Moor over two spells, playing an integral part in the club's Championship title success in 2015-16.

He departed for Rangers that summer but, after an unsuccessful stint at Ibrox, returned to Burnley in January 2017, scoring on his second league debut and helping Dyche's side secure Premier League survival.

And Barton, now manager at Fleetwood Town in League One, has opened up on his career in a lengthy podcast with Football CFB.

The former midfielder spoke at length on a range of topics and clubs and had high praise for his time at Burnley and working under Dyche.

Barton arrived at Turf Moor from QPR in 2015 as something of a surprise signing having poked fun at the Clarets for having a promotion parade a year earlier when they finished second in the Championship to secure top flight football.
