Dundee United manager Ian McCall has confirmed that Scott Paterson will be out for a possible further six weeks. Paterson was undergoing surgery on Friday to repair a slight ligament tear.

He has not played since being carried off at Celtic on August 16 and now the defender has been dealt a further blow.

McCall told The Dundee Courier: "Unfortunately, after playing well against Hibs, he lasted only 10 minutes at Parkhead and hasn't played since.

"To discover he'll be out even longer is a real blow, and Scott himself is on a bit of a downer. But hopefully he'll come back from this better than ever."
