Derby midfielder Craig Burley has revealed that Dundee United have entered the race for his signature. It has been made clear to us that Dundee United have joined the race to sign former Celtic Star Craig Burley

United are sitting second from bottom in the Scottish Premier League, but despide the situation the Terrors are in manager Ian McCall has targeted the former Celtic star for next season.

"There's definitely been talk with Dundee United," Burley said.

"I've not spoken to Ian McCall, but he's definitely intimated that he is very keen to get me.

"Whether or not I would come up here I don't know. There are a number of clubs in the Premiership who have asked to be kept up to date with the situation and I've had six or seven clubs in the play-offs or thereabouts offering me deals to go on deadline day."

Burley's Derby career has been revived with the arrival of his uncle George after falling out of favour with John Gregory, who has been suspended by the club pending an enquiry.

The Pride Park outfit's future is still uncertain, but Burley believes that there will be some news from them on the management side this week.

"There's going to be movement this week in terms of management structure one way or the other so hopefully we'll put this to bed," added Burley.

The 31-year-old's turnaround was completed with a recall to the Scotland squad - but he admitted that he did not have a clue who some of his new team-mates were.

"It feels different because some of the lads that walked in, I wasn't sure who they were," joked Burley. "I'm used to playing for an experienced team."
