With the deal by Porto's president Jorge Pinto da Costa to sign Chievo midfielder Simone Perrotta, dead in the water, the door has been opened for Everton to make a move, the new Porto trainer Luigi Del Neri, had made Perrotta a top priority, However negotations have not ran smoothly, with Da Costa quoted as saying: "Negotiations with Perrotta are very difficult."

Inter Milan are also thought to be interested, in the midfielder, but it is understood that Perrotta, who was born in London favours a return to England, and if press speculation is correct that return could very well be with Everton.

Another name in the frame for Everton, is Inter Milan's Daniele Adani, he has recently been made available by Inter and there was reported interest by Blackburn over the weekend, but it now looks like if he does indeed come to England Everton is his most likely destination.

However with both Lazio and newley promoted Fiorentina also interested, there is no guarantees that Adani will actually move abroad.
