Wrexham go to Chesterfield on Saturday definitely missing three players – and another trio are hoping to win their fitness battles. Lee Jones and Shaun Pejic are out injured and Steve Thomas is suspended for the clash away at Chesterfield.
But Denis Smith is sweating yet again on Chris Armstrong, and also Steve Roberts and Craig Morgan are not 100% sure of being available for selection. Otherwise Wrexham are literally down to the bare-bones for Saturdays game
Smith said this morning: to the Evening Leader - “I’m hoping that at least a couple of them will be available – if they don’t it leaves me with just 14 players.” Chris Armstrong played 80 minutes of Wrexham’s behind closed doors friendly with Liverpool at their Kirkby academy base on Tuesday.
“Chris is having treatment before training,” said Smith. “He trained Monday and Tuesday, played against Liverpool, and then had yesterday off.
“I take it he is fine but we’ll have to see. Chris is getting to the make or break stage. “The knee is okay but it’s how his achilles reacts. We’ve been pushing him and done all we can, but he needs games.”
So with injury worries ahead of the clash at Saltergate, who will play? Is this a time to see more of the promising young players such as Matty Crowell and Mark Jones?
