Smith told the EVENING LEADER : "If you don´t score, you don´t win. Simple as that. What we need at the moment is someone prepared to go in behind defenders - in where it hurts, if you like. That´s the only way to get goals and that´s why Andy Morrell scored so many for us last season.'' "At the moment, we´re not getting behind defenders enough. We´ve got players here capable of doing it, but they don´t do it often enough."

Lee Jones is probably Smith´s best choice but we can only sit back for another seven days and watch teams above and below them collect points. They have no game until a week tomorrow when Peterborough United come to The Racecourse, as due to the fact it is FA Cup day today.

Smith said: "Crazy, isn´t it? Earlier in the season we had three games in a week when we were hard-pressed to get 16 down on the team sheet. Now, we haven´t got a game until December 13. It´s so frustrating, particularly as by then we are almost sure to slip down the table. "But we´ve simply got to start scoring again, no matter when we play. Lee Jones got our two in the 2-2 draw at Macclesfield on Wednesday so hopefully he looks like being back to his best.
