Coventry midfielder David Thompson looks like to be heading away from Highfield Road after chairman Mike McGinnity revealed that he is talking with an unnamed Premiership club about the former Liverpool man Thompson was The Sky Blues star perfromer last season and attracted strong interest from several Premiership scouts. Whilst Coventry don't want to sell the winger, the financial situation at the club leaves them with little option.

McGinnity reavealed that he was in talks with a Premier team to the Covetnry Evening Telegraph. "As far as David is concerned, I'm still having very positive talks with a Premiership club.

"It could be that we sign a deal for him in the next few days."

It is thought that the Premiership club is Blackburn Rovers who have made no secret of their desire to sign Thompson
