Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore has admitted that we is interested in signing former England winger Lee Sharpe. The man once dubbed 'the next George Best' spent last week on trial at Grimsby and was due to play in their 2-1 defeat to Hull on Friday but pulled out at the last minute.

The exact reason is not known but it is thought that Sharpe did not want to risk injury whilst still considering his options.

Sharpe was released by Bradford at the end of last season and has been trying to find a club since.

Moore admitted to the clubs official site that he was interested in Sharpe. ``I would still like to bring in one or two new players and I have noticed Lee Sharpe is training at Grimsby. I'm looking for a left-sided player so I just might have a little sniff at him.

``We need some experience down that side as Andy Monkhouse will miss the start the season.

``Sharpe has probably made his money out of the game so he might well be prepared to accept the type of wage we can offer. You have to wonder whether he is hungry enough but until you see him in action you don't know.''
