Sheffield Wednesday have signed striker Leon Knight on a 1-year loan from Chelsea. The 19-year-old has spent the last two seasons on-loan at QPR and Huddersfield Town. The England U-20 international can operate as a striker or as a wide-attacking midfielder. Although his strike rate suggest he is better employed as a striker. Huddersfield Town were keen to keep Knight for another season but The Owls beat them to the punch.

Knight will not be able to play for The Owls until the 3rd game of the season (Nottm Forest) due to a suspension picked up last season.

Wednesday's Chief Executive Alan Sykes could not hide his delight when speaking to the clubs official site.

"I am sure Leon will prove to be a very exciting addition to our squad over the next year. We have been working for several weeks to bring him to Sheffield Wednesday and are extremely grateful to Chelsea for their co-operation in enabling this deal to go through."

Manager Terry Yorath promised two new faces upon his appointment in April, it is now known who the other target is although Lloyd Owusu of Brentford is rumoured to be attracting the attention of Wednesday along with several other 1st Division teams including Wednesday's South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham.
