Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed the signing of Jon Beswetherwick from Plymouth on a free transfer. The highly rated left-back was a key member of Plymouth's promotion team last season and will look to continue his form upon his arrival in Yorkshire.

Born in Liverpool, Beswetherwick spent seven seasons at Home Park playing over 150 games. He has however never found the net in a professional game.

Owls manager Terry Yorath told of his praise for the player to the clubs official site.

"Jon's a talented young player who we were watching for most of last season.

He'll give us a few more options on the left hand side and I'm certain he'll prove an excellent acquisition for us".

This move is likely to signal the end of David Burrows spell as a Wednesday player despite him signing just 2 months ago.
