Motherwell manager Terry Butcher has tipped cash strapped Ipswich Town to bounce back and survive after they were put into temporary administration. The Steelmen manger won the UEFA Cup with the Horses in 1981 and can sympathise with the East Anglia club after the current Scottish Premier League club suffered a similar fate last season.

The Lanarkshire club are now on the up after they were forced to make players and staff redundant and will now focus on surviving the drop, Butcher is now optimistic that Town will survive.

"It's happening at other clubs before and I think it will happen even more," said former England defender Butcher.

"Even my old club have gone into administration. It's not a great time economically within football at the moment that's for sure - whether you are players or whether you are fans. It's a hard time for everyone. I have a lot of sympathy and it's not nice.

"They were on a crest of wave and I saw them in Moscow when they played against Torpedo. I was out doing media work over there and I have been part of the glory days, so to go into administration is a sign of the times. If you lose that status in the Premiership it's potentially a disaster, but I hope they come back and I'm sure they will come back."
