In the latest of the Young Ones series Jonathan Burgher takes a look at Palace's promsing winger Julian Gray. Julian Gray was signed from Arsenal in the same deal that brought Tommy Black to Palace in the summer of 2000. After scoring his first Palace goal just a couple of games into his Eagles career at Huddersfield, he struggled to nail down a regular first team place in his first season.

However, last season he fully established himself as the regular left winger in the team and was voted Young Player of the Year. He's blessed with bags of skill, is deceptively quick and has a sweet left foot. It was also rumoured that Newcastle was interested in him last year.

Gray must now add more goals to his game, and have more confidence in taking on full backs. That said, he's still only 22, and was a shining light in a lacklustre Palace side towards the end of last season.
