Gillingham can make the play-offs according to player-manager Andy Hessenthaler. Hessenthaler has seen his team race to the top of the division with a 100% record with wins over Wimbledon, Derby and Millwall.
Hessenthaler took over the reigns as manager 2 years ago following Peter Taylor's decision to join Leicester in the Premiership. Despite being tipped for relegation both times The Gills have established themselves as a strong Division 1 team.
In the summer Hessenthaler managed to recruit 3 new strikers, Rod Wallace, Tommy Johnson and Mamady Sidibe.
Hessenthaler not belives that the club is good enough to challange for a play-off spot but knows that safety is the first priority. "Fifty points is always going to be our first target but I think we are good enough for a play-off spot.
"We have put together a very good squad here."
