Results round up from Saturday 17th August. Norwich continued their good start with a 2-0 win against Brighton at The Withdean. Goals came from Paul McVeigh and Clint Easton.

Portsmouth staged a dramatic comeback at Selhurst to take 3 points from Palace. The Eagles looked to be cruising to a 2-0 win with goals from Freedman and Popovic. However a Hayden Foxe goal and a Jason Crowe double gave the Pompey fans something to cheer and completed a miserable week for Trevor Francis.

Gillingham continued their 100% record with a 1-0 defeat of Millwall. Guy Ipoua grabbed the only goal to take The Gills to the top of the table.

Derby came from behind to beat Grimsby in today's televised game. Grimsby took the lead through Darren Barnard's 35 yard lob after Mart Poom made a hash of his clearnace. A brace from Adam Bolder gave Derby 3 points but the game was marred by a serious injury to Grimsby striker Steve Livingstone following a clash with Danny Higginbottom.

Nottm Forest thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 at the City Ground with Ricardo Scimeca grabbing two and Jack Lester and David Johnson the others. Gerald Sibon was sent-off for The Owls.

Coventry beat Reading 2-1 despite Jamie Cureton scoring first for The Royals. Callum Davemport grabbed the equaliser with Jay Bothroyd grabbing the late winner.

The days only no-score-draw was played out between Rotherham and Preston at Millmoor.

Walsall earned a valauble point at Sheffield United. The Saddlers took the lead through Steve Corica before Celtic loanee John Paul McGoevern equalised.

Stoke added to Bradford's worries after beating them 2-1 at home. Andy Cooke and Petur Marteinsson grabbed the goal for Stoke whilst Andy Gray scored with a late effort for Bradford.

Wimbledon continued their miserable start, losing 3-2 to Watford.

The Dons lead first through Adam Nowland before Danny Webber and Paul Robinson took the lead for Watford. Julian Gray thought he'd earnt a point for The Dons with his late goal only for Alan Nielsen to strike to make it 3-2 to Watford.

Wolves got their promotion campaign rolling with the 3-0 defeat of Burnley. Goals came from Nathan Blake, Denis Irwin and Kevin Cooper. Kenny Miller also missed a penalty for Wolves.
