Herman Hreidarsson will not be joining Premiership new boys West Brom after rejecting the move. The Icelandic international looked set for a move to The Hawthorns but rejected the move after deciding he didn’t want to uproot his family.

West Brom had agreed a fee of around £4million for the defender yesterday but now any deal looks dead in the water. West Brom’s managing director Brandon Batson confirmed the rejection to the clubs website “I spoke to Herman this morning. He told me he won’t be coming.”

Ipswich chairman David Sheepshanks also confirmed the news on the Ipswich website. “Herman came to see the manager, George Burley, and myself earlier after considering the move to West Brom.

”He said he would prefer not to make the move”.

Ipswich are now likely to have to sell another of their assets with captain Matt Holland the favourite to leave with Aston Villa knocking on the door at Portman Road.
