West Brom have had an offer for defender Herman Hreidarrson accepted by Ipswich. The Icelandic defender was a rock at the back for Ipswich in the Premiershhip following his £4.5million move from Wimbledon and played in Saturday's game against Walsall. With finances struggling though the club realised that they had no other option but to accept the offer, which remains undisclosed but is thought to be a new around £2.5-3million.

Ipswich manager George Burley revealed to the clubs website that he was disspointed at losing Hreidarsson but the financial situation dicatated that they had to accept the offer. "Our financial situation has been well documented throughout the summer.

"Relegation from the Premiership has left us in a position where we have to sell and the club have reluctantly accepted an offer from West Brom for Hermann.

Hreidarson will now travel to The Hawthornes to discuss terms with Baggies boss Gary Megson.
