Wolverhapton Wanderes have declared an interest in Newcastle United's Carl Cort; Wolves are to open talks with Cort about a move to Molineux on Thursday.

Carl Cort's agent, Jonathan Barnett, confirmed that the rumours were true today.

"Wolves have declared an interest in Carl," Barnett told skysports.com.

"We have not held talks yet, but maybe tomorrow (Thursday).

"We will wait and see what happens."

Wolves boss Dave Jones has held a long-term interest in the player and he tried to sign him last season before his side won promotion to The Premiership.

A bid of 1.5 million is expected from Wolverhampton Wanderers. But will Cort mind playing the inevitable level of football that is Nationwide next season?
