Go Stateside Says Reyna

CLAUDIO REYNA is urging the Premiership clubs to take a trip Stateside in their search for a bargain in the January transfer window. The USA captain is one of several Americans now gracing the English top flight. Manchester United signed goalkeeper Tim Howard in the summer and has exceeded all expectations by establishing himself as Sir Alex Ferguson's first choice goalkeeper and has already been likened to former hero Peter Schmeichel.

Reyna, Tim Howard, Brad Friedel, Kasey Keller - they've all proved that they are more than capable of producing the goods in the Premiership and the Manchester City midfielder believes there are many more talented players in the USA who can do a job in England.

"I would advise managers to look towards the USA," said the 30-year-old. "Off the top of my head, I can think of three or four players who could play in England. The MLS is in its off-season and I know every player is dying for a chance to get over here and give it a go.

"I'm not talking about older players either, there are plenty of younger ones coming through too. They might not take the league by storm but they could definitely help teams - and the wages certainly wouldn't be a problem either."
