Recent Form : After a great run of form, Queen's have let themselves down a bit recently with consecutive home defeats in the League to Gretna and East Stirlingshire. Hamilton, having disposed of East Fife in a replay on penalties, currently sit joint second bottom of the Second Division, although they do have a game in hand over Airdrie United. Recent victories include a 1-0 home success against fellow relegation candidates Dumbarton and a 2-1 win at Stranraer.

Likely Outcome : It has now been 17 years since Queen's progressed to the 4th round of this competition, and this tie presents them with at least a realistic chance of doing so. However, from Queen's perspective, it might have been preferable for the tie to have been played away from Hampden as Hamilton will undoubtedly get a lift from playing here, and particularly former Spider Brian McPhee who has scored a few goals in recent games. Just a shame that he couldn't have secured his much publicised requested transfer away from Hamilton prior to this game. Last year Hamilton secured a victory in the League Cup by the only goal of the game - that scoreline may well be repeated on this occasion too.
