Southend United have earned a second successive promotion after a few hiccups against the likes of Blackpool and Swansea the Shrimpers completed the job against fellow league 1 side Bristol City at Roots Hall. In what has proved to be one of the shrimpers best seasons on record with 2 wins over Essex rivals Colchester and televised Carling Cup 1st round match against former Premiership outfit Southampton which brought in a few extra pounds but ended in a 3-0 defeat Southend have gone from strength to strength since being promoted from Coca Cola League 2 to Coca Cola League 1 last May after a tense 2-0 extra time play off final win against Lincoln.

On a sad note the promotion also saw the retirment of former Manchester City favourite Shaun Goater who is returning to his native Bermuda and us here at the unofficial Southend United F.C website wish him all the best in his future indevus.

Can Southend survive in the Coca Cola Championship? well i suppose only time will tell but i am sure the team will give it a damn good go :)
