Boxing Day at the Shay!! The Shaymen survive the fight with a win at the Shay in a very ugly match with Scarborough. Four players get tossed!

Match report
 
Sagare missed a golden chance from a Midgley cross early in the game. Scarborough kicked the Shaymen off the park. Shaymen kicked them back. Heavy rain came down in a swirling gale. Sestanovich causing Town problems every time he got the ball. There was a mass brawl after Gill's x-rated tackle on Mallon after 34 minutes. 4 got sent off (2 Town). It took the pathetic referee and officials 5 minutes to sort out the punch up. 5 more got booked (2 Town) during the game. The 4th official added 4 minutes at the end of the first half. CW's tactics were poor, Lee initially came on for Farrell and went back to centre half. Then Scarborough over ran Town and could have scored a boat-load. If it hadn't been for Midgley and Bushell working their socks off in the middle they would have done. The pace up front gradually got taken off Mallon and Sagare, replaced by Hockenhull and Hudson to bolster the defence. Marcelle and Whitham causing Town problems at the back, but the Scarborough finishing was poor. Lee grabbed a late goal after a great shot from Midgley hit the post, the ball come out for another town player who's shot was cleared, but only as far as Lee, who really had a simple task to score a goal against the run of play. The game was awful to watch as a spectacle, many supporters won't be encouraged to come back after that. The icing on the cake for me was the 4th official, putting the 4 minutes of added time up after 46 minutes had already been played, in the 2nd half. The referee actually adding 5 and a half minutes on eventually. During the added time, Town just booted the ball upfield back to Scarborough, with all the Town players back in the penalty area. Rubbish but 3 points.
